Devon County Council has been broadcasting a range of content online since November 2003. At present the authority has a fixed F600 system in its Council Chamber and an additional R600 portable unit which is used in Committee Rooms and at off-site locations. The service is provided under the auspices of the Communications Department, initially in response to a high level of local activism over Council Tax. Since then, Devon has been extremely active in providing a broad range of content to inform and entertain residents, including Consultation Panels, Scrutiny, Executive, Development Control, Environment, Full Council, Schools Organisation Committee and Budget meetings as well as filming internal content such as the Council Worker of the Year. In addition to webcasting, Devon CC also launched their web tv site My Devon in 2008, which carries topical and educational video articles for Devon residents.
