eParticipate

Project of the year 2006

The project was set-up to help Local Authorities use webcasting to re-engage citizens in their democratic process.  The eParticipate platform centred on webcasting supported by the inclusion of key contextual information and feedback facilities combined with other communication tools such as on-line consultation.

Trialled in 10 European Municipalities across Europe, the key democratic measure of the project was to achieve a 25% increase in citizen participation in local democratic activities especially with regards to Council meeting attendance and consultation participation.

The results of this objective was not only met but exceeded.

Project dates: 2005 - September 2009
